Orville Wright, Katherine Wright (sister of Orville), and William Wright in 1909.
Orville Wright, of course, was one of the "Wright Brothers." His sister took care of him throughout his life but when she decided to marry at age 51 (in 1926), he wouldn't speak to her. (Presumably, because she was "leaving him.") He didn't speak to her until over 2 years after her marriage when she contracted pneumonia and died. He was at her deathbed.
William Wright is not identified but there was a famous British aviator of this name and about the right age. This may be that man.

Katharine Wright was born on August 19, 1874 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio United States to Susan Catherine (Koerner) Wright and Milton Wright, and had siblings Orville Wright, Wilbur Wright, Reuchlin Wright, Lorin Wright, Ida Wright, and Otis Wright. Katharine Wright died at age 54 years old on March 3, 1929 in Kansas City, Jackson County, MO. Family, friend, or fan, this family history biography is for you to remember Katharine Wright.
Along with his brother, Wilber, Orville Wright is known for being a pioneer in aviation in the U.S. They invented, built, and flew the world's first successful motor-operated airplane in 1903.
Their first enterprise was a bicycle shop - they repaired and sold bicycles!
Neither of the brothers had middle names as their father wanted to give them "unique enough" first names.

The 1920s Changed Our Daily Lives & Not How You Might Think . . .
In the 1920's life changed drastically for the average American and for people all over the world. Airplanes began to be a mode of transportation and communication. Automobiles, rather than horses, ...

The single most popular fashion accessory for men and women used to be the hat - practical or decorative!
Etiquette used to dictate that it would be "a disgrace to venture out of the house without a hat and gloves" and it was not unusual at the turn of the 20th century for both men and women to change the...
I am researching Tasker, Jones, Bowen, Rees of Wales; Kroetch, Chartrand of Canada; and Boggs, Ferguson, Smith, of West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky. Also Steeples of Kansas. And on my mother's New England roots - well, too numerous to name since she descends from Mayflower passengers as well as Dutch East India captains who arrived with their families before the Mayflower landed further north than was planned. :) I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Director). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come.
I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in Campbell (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our current Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown. For more information see Kathy - Founder & Content and Community Director
