Jacque Trumbull Oh geeee I didn't know what a photo bomb is. And I take photos. Thanks! I see the guy standing behind the tent too and waving.

There is a guy on the left behind the tent.... Not the guy sticking his head out of the tent. The one on the left behind the tent waving - is photobombing....

This may even be a mining camp photo or a lumber camp. I don't see enough in the clothing to make me think they are in any uniforms. It's definitely pre-WWI. Even looks like there are gold pans under the left edge of the tent, so maybe they are panning for gold.

I agree. I don't see any rank insignia, and the clothing isn't very uniform.

Yes I wondered about that. The moustache on the guy waving behind the tent looks like civil war era (1860s). If there was a photographer name on it somewhere it could be traced as per era.

All of the jackets appear to be the same, as well as the hats. The person standing in back of the person lying down on the right side appears to have a medallion or insignia on his hat. Even thought the left side of the photo is faded, it looks like uniforms to me. The photo reminds me of others I have seen from the Spanish-American War.

A photo bomb - spoil a photograph of (a person or thing) by unexpectedly appearing in the camera's field of view as the picture is taken, typically as a prank or practical joke.

Very Interesting and I think it's a great Picture of the Past. I have to say that I Love it. But I Love Anything else About the past. It is A great Thing to See what happens when you have Not yet been Born. Even though After You have Been Born also. A WONDERFUL Thing to know about How Things change the Way It was.

This photo looks similar to a photo of one that I have... At least regarding the military dress and style. The one I have was taken in the Philippines, during the Philippines Excursion/Spanish American War in the late 1800's / early 1900's.

Unfortunately, I do not have access to the photo right now. Maybe someone else would have one from that era and post it.

That photo looks old enough that it required long exposure and thus careful posing by people holding still for some seconds.

By the wonders of modern photoshop, here's a clearer image of it. It doesn't look military to me though - it looks a lot like photos I've seen of local mining camps from the 1860s gold rush here in New Zealand.
