A photo of Koenraad Gezang. Koenraad was in the care of the Creche orphanage, nobody knew who he was at first. He was adored by the staff and even German police then he was sadly murdered at Sobibor Death Camp on May 21, 1943 at age 13 months.
Some terrible things are forgotten by some powerful people i am afraid who are diluted with their comfortable priveledged lives. Nice sentiment you have written tho.

Born on 29 January 1942 in The Hague, Holland. He was deported to Sobibor together with other Jewish children from the Amsterdam children’s home “De Creche”, opposite to the “Joodsche Schouwburg”. Children under 12, after being rounded up, were taken to “De Creche”.
On 16 October 1942 an 8 months old boy with no specific marks was exposed in front of the house Duinwijckweg 1 in Bloemendaal, 25 km west of Amsterdam. According to the Dutch law the child was registered Van Duinwijck as his 'family'-name, and after Hector
Malot's novel it was given Remi as first name. Foundlings in those days were supposed to be Jewish and so was Remi, after Lodewijk Strak, NSB- and SS member and alderman of Amsterdam, stated the child had Jewish ears. Remi was taken to "De Chrèche", opposite to the "Joodsche Schouwburg", where all Jewish children under 12 were taken after being rounded up. Because of all attention the baby received there, it was not possible for Dutch underground members to smuggle him out and into hiding. Remi was deported to Westerbork and from there to Sobibor, where he perished on 21 May 1943.
After the war it became known that his real name had been Koenraad Huib Gezang, born in The Hague, on 29 January 1942. His mother, Florence Gezang nee Goudeket, had also perished in Sobibor, on 9 April 1943, six weeks before her son."
"Jewish ears" ....how on earth they could classify something like this? I am not Jewish but I have an important nose , if I had lived during the WWII in Europe , I would have probably been arrested and sent to a concentration camp for having a Jewish nose!
Yes, my mother worked with a woman in Albany, NY and she said she was in a concen. Camp and someone altered her birth certificate for her so she was allowed a glass of warm milk every day. It was a long stay forher in the camp. She worked longer to reach retirement age but she said the extra glass of milk was worth it!
Some souls just don't get a chance. Thank you for posting this - while he didn't have an opportunity to do much in his short life, having this image and his story shows he has not been forgotten.
Sadly most information was erased by the Nazis. We are doing our best to represent this young boy's life (see original link for more details). If you have additional information please share it!
Oooh if I could have been around back then I'd take all those babies to safety!! So sad. I wish they could have hid his records so he could have lived. So many little ones gone so tragically. So many adults too. But it's the children I have the worst trouble hearing about.
Having been to the national holocaust museum, I will never forget the feeling of such sadness for these precious souls. They have one exhibit that is a room, full of just shoes, from those that sadly lost their lives.
Yes, I went too...never to be forgotten. The shoes that look just like ours, the red pair with striped heels that she would have loved, and worn so proudly...hit me so hard and made it so relatable.
I think there is a museum set up in atlanta georgia but i didnt see it because of what i am going thru myself. I would like a rv and travel to museums in the usa.
Beautiful child, just a few months older than me, of course I have had the luxury of a long life that he was denied. Such a travesty, even the children were not spared.
Human mind, ego n power is deadly cocktail.it was there,is there n will remain there.bec humans r basically originated from animals n hv traits hidden deep.when situation arises,u see their real nature
That is a soulful look. Probably has a long story to tell at such a young age. Reminds me of myself. Wont say what i am thinking next but our govt set up does not always work to protect all even innocent babes.
Hopefully one day, the holocaust hoax will be exposed for all the world to see. In the meantime, I'll have to put up with more posts of supposed victims of this fairytale.
Sweet looking baby and may he never be forgotten even his short time on earth. How can anyone purposely hurt an innocent child? Will never understand that. :( God Bless this lil soul...
If I went in that time, I wouldn’t be afraid to hide this little boy-even though it might be risky. No matter how many attention he receives-I would’ve cared about his life being in jeapordy and trying to protect him- but yes I know that would be impossible.
I know it’s hard to view Natalie. Anger & hatred is what led to tragic situations like this. To ignore the past seeds the future with the ability to happen again.
If everyone had the approach that they didn't want to see it, or refused to look at these types of pictures or articles, then it would not take more than a generation to erase the history. It is the responsibility of decent human beings to view and acknowledge atrocities to keep them from happening again.
