James Henry Hyde

James died on the first day of the battle of Loos and it's possible he was killed by his own side on the 25th September 1915

The Allies planned a “big push” to break the stalemate of the Western Front, attacking along a 19-mile front and using poison gas for the first time.

It badly misfired, however, and 8,500 British Expeditionary Force troops died on the first day — then the highest toll. By the end of the fortnight, 20,000 were dead.
