1944 Belgium. You probably know what happened to her - but her little pigtails and toys bring an added dimension of sadness to her photo. She was an innocent.
To think that anyone could support a cause that leads to the murder of this sweet innocent and countless more just like her is soul crushing We must fight hate wherever it rears it's ugly head
Seriously,, one should garner some knowledge of how those blinded by hate following guidelines of fools allowing atrocities to Innocents! This era is giving everyone an excellent choice for righting all Wrongs!
Right? I was thinking the same thing as I got home from work and heard the news about Barcelona today and then seeing this picture and reading the comments. I really do wish that we could all get along and that these bad things stop happening to innocent people.
If you look at this precious child & put a child of your own, a little sister, cousin just anyone you love in her place could you, whoever you are, ever want harm to come to her?? Why can't we just love each other & give peace a chance. Our children deserve to live in happiness & peace. She was loved.
She was probably so proud of those toys that day and getting her picture taken with them. So sad to think she didn't get the chance to live a long life.
Oh bless! Yes easy to see how could happen again. Here in Australia we have racism etc but hard for us to understand what is going on in US. My kids cry and think there if going to be a war as do the children of my friends.
This little should NOT have had to suffer. She was an innocent little girl who did no harm and hopefully the bastards who took her life away BURN IN HELL
Why announce the bad stuff?! Most people have brains! Hopefully nothing happened and she was fortunate to have survived! Just leave out the bad stuff and leave a happy picture of a sweet innocent human!
No need to be hopeful, Jennifer. She's dead. She was a six year old girl who was murdered by nazi scum. Do you think Jewish people have the privilege to be sick and tired of always hearing the negative when it's their families who were murdered? You're ridiculous and your callous "it doesn't affect me so leave me out of it" attitude is precisely what is wrong with this country.
Seems like a lot of people are thriving on negativity these days! And seeing from the comments regarding my comment you are ones thriving on it. Negative feeds negative and positive feeds positive! Everyone knows about WWII. It does NOT mean that every single man, woman or CHILD died! Let's just have more positive thoughts that HOPEFULLY by some chance that she made it!
Being able to ignore what you refer to as "the negative" is EXACTLY what people mean when they talk about white privilege. People who are members of minority groups cannot ignore it, because we live it, every second of every day!
And if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
It's not ignoring it! It's what at the time of viewing this photo, I was and sick and tired of every single thing on media is negative! So Sharon Jones, tell me how you are a solution to today's problems?!

The most fun ever - toys! Toys have changed a lot over the years, but they serve the same purpose - bringing joy to our lives.

Portrait photographs and paintings of our loved ones and ancestors.
Before photos we had paintings of family members - most usually these were reserved for the well off. The era of modern photography began with the daguerreotype, in 1839. Since the advent of photogr...
Coming out of the Great Depression, the world faced another challenge in the 1940's: World War II. Although the war began in the 1930's, it expanded and gained in ferocity (and atrocities) in the 194...
