Confederate Veterans Reunion
The Confederate Veterans Reunion was held in Harrison in 1914. The files of the Times of September 18, 1914 had this account:
On the morning of the second day of the exConfederate Reunion last Saturday, a parade was made, ending with an automobile ride about the city.
After this a photograph was made of the Camp in a body, standing on and around the north steps of the court house.
In the afternoon addresses were made by Judge E.G. Mitchell, Troy Pace, Mrs. Minnie Helm and others. Mrs. Harvey Lewis read an original poem — a tribute to those who wore the Gray, and the Daughters of the Confederacy, led by Mrs. J. E. Andrews and Misses Nona and lnez Williford, sang “Maryland, My Maryland.”
Most of the people are identified but several are not. If you can identify them, call Dr. Troy Coffman of Harrison, who furnished the photo.

Number 11 in the picture is my 4th cousin 4 times removed (Civil:XIV, Canon:9). He is Benjamin Mason Estes, son of John Moses Estes and Charlotte Elkins. Ben was born 23 Sep 1844 in Tennessee and died 13 Aug 1934 in Arkansas. His wife, number 10, could be Ellen Layton Hart, who he married 26 Jan 1903 since it states the picture was taken in 1914.

Wars and conflicts have been a significant aspect of human history, shaping nations and societies for centuries.
They are often sparked by political, economic, and social factors, as well as by differences in ideology, religion, and ethnicity. These conflicts have led to the rise and fall of empires, the creatio...
Disco, polyester, Nixon and Watergate, equal rights, the "new right", the rise of terrorism . . . oh what a decade. Not much was resolved but a lot happened!
Photos of the 1900's which brought us from the industrial age to the technological age.
From 1900 through 1999 we witnessed the beginning of flight to a man on the moon and a Mars Rover. We went from using phones tethered by cords and computers that filled rooms, to carrying the equivale...

From Karl Benz in 1885 to Elon Musk's Tesla, cars have always been a passion for some. See the evolution of car technology and the types of cars that caught our fancy in the past.
In the 1880's, in an effort to invent an automobile that could be used every day - rather than just a fire pumper or a locomotive for special use - inventors tried steam, gasoline, or electricity as a...
Been doing research on the Estes and Albins famalies for a number of years now, along with all the children and their children. I'm interested in hearing from anyone that's connected to either of these two families!
