I think it's simply amazing all of these photos and details you've compiled. How did you find out Halina was born illegitimately and diagnosed with “congenital idiocy”? Is there a particular source you find useful?
I actually had to translate the information to English since it was all in German. I know the files would point out the cause of death of the patients was some type of “pneumonia, tuberculosis”, something like that. When we really know they were drugged, killed with lethal injections, starved/suffered illnesses without medical care.

Nowadays they it’s known as a form of autism (could be). I hate it when they describe autism as “form of idiocy”-I have a mild form. It was on gedenkort -t4.
The disabled who were victims of Hitler’s evil doing deserve a face and name also. I also feel bad that there’s not many Roma, Poles and others-*not many photos of them* because how would they be remembered later on. Give ‘em a break, even they deserve to be remembered too.
So sorry you had to suffer so many hardships, pain and terror probably without someone to hold your hand. Rest in peace, little angel.

I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth. So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her. For more information about what we're building see About AncientFaces. My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
