My Grandmother Miller wore hats to church every Sunday with gloves ! When she went to town for an appointment or to buy groceries she had her go to town hat and gloves on . That was my grandmother prime and proper . She said a real lady wouldn't be caught out in public without her hats and gloves ! US kids would giggle but we loved her a lot .
