Constance 'Connie' Ruscitti Izay

This photo of Constance "Connie" Ruscitti (who would eventually marry and be known as Connie Izay) appeared in the 1947 yearbook photo of Hopewell High School. It reads:

CONSTANCE RUSCITTI --- "Connie"...her flashing eyes and a bright smile are descriptive of Connie...plans to work in the medical field. Active in keeping the Hopewell band marching.

Born Connie Blanche Ruscetti to Joseph Ruscetti and Rose Palazzi, Connie Izay is best remembered as the medical adviser for the hit TV series MASH and "Marcus Welby". Connie was married to actor Victor Izay, who both performed infrequently in community theater in Albuquerque New Mexico. They had three children Gregory, Victoria, and Stephen. After they both moved to Los Angeles she became a first aid nurse at Universal Studios, where one day she was asked to 'keep an eye on things' on set of "Marcus Welby". While on set she became particularly interested in how medical techniques were portrayed on film and began advising Robert Young (Welby) and others on the proper techniques. I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth. My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
