Angelo was born to Italian Americans Pasquale Leno (1876-1956) and Nicolina Leno (1885-1976) in New York. He was the husband to Catherine Muir Leno and the father to both Jay Leno and Patrick Douglas Muir Leno. A full blooded Italian first generation to be born in New York, he moved his family to Andover during his career at Prudential to take a role as the company's Greater Lawrence district manager where he retired after 37 years in 1976.
He had four brothers - John, Louis, Anthony, and Michael, and two sisters Edith and Faye.
Catherine Muir was born to James Muir (c. 1874-1930) in Greenock Scotland and when she was 15 years old immigrated into the United States onboard the ship Cameronia which departed from Glasgow Scotland and arrived in New York on October 31st 1926. In 1935 she married Angelo J. Leno (1910-1944) and they had two children Patrick Douglas Muir Leno and Jay Leno.
In the 1930s, Catherine was 18 living with her father James (age 56) and the McKim family in the Bronx at 2306 Glebe Avenue. It shows that she worked in a factory. Ten years later, according to the 1940s census Catherine was 28 years old, living with her husband Angelo (age 29) at 2885 Phillip Avenue in the Bronx New York.

I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth.
So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her.
