A photo of Barbara Pierce, the future Barbara Bush, wife of President George HW Bush, in a graduation photo from finishing school in Charleston, S.C. She and George Bush were married for 73 years - the longest of any presidential couple.
She died on April 17 2018, of natural causes, at her home in Houston, Texas at the age of 92.
"But why should we hear about body bags and deaths, and how many, what day it's gonna happen, and how many this or that or what do you suppose? Or, I mean, it's not relevant. So, why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that, and watch him (her husband, former president George H. W. Bush) suffer?"
I saw that one on MSNBC's coverage. Women back then had such a classic look. She told the story that she married the only man she ever had a 1st kiss with.
Abbie Redean or just message me and I can send you a picture lol. I’m sure when we’re 92 it’s going to be some crazy new advanced way of doing that but I can get a grandkid to help. Lol
I find “old-school” people were, are, & will always be more genuine and classy/classic. Hopefully I’ll be able to hold on to my “old-school” personality—does get kinda hard in this day&age!!
Really? Are you serious right now? How can you say such a rude insensitive nasty thing on a tribute post to this wonderful woman, about her own son, no less?? You should be ashamed of yourself. If anyone was dropped on their head, it was you. Please grow some manners and sensitivity. Don't be the turd in the punch bowl.
Mona Renee Arnett Really, you guys would defend him, there are an awful lot of mothers who will never see their sons again because of him. Was actually trying to err on the side of politeness by just saying what I did. Take it you are all Americans, it is your lack of respect for others that is breathtaking.
I seriously just heard George W and Laura Bush talking about how Barbara was joking all the way to the end. W said that Barbara explained that she smoked and drank throughout her pregnancy, and that explained how W turned out!! No disrespect.,. I just heard him say this today!!
Seriously, you say such a thing at this time. Obviously your mother must have dropped you on your head. Glad you're not my kid because I'd have smacked you upside the head for showing such classless disrespect.
I’m a Houstonian and what she’s done for our children, schools and libraries has been nothing short of miraculous! She gave TWO MILLION DOLLARS to rebuild and restock libraries wiped out by Harvey.
And that’s just ONE example of how she’s impacted so many lives here! She went to elementary schools and read to children. She helped teach adults literacy...
How does THAT have ANYthing to do with
her son?? She a strong, fierce, straightforward woman, full of grace and full of life.

I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come.
I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown. For more information see Kathy - Founder & Content and Community Director My family began AncientFaces because we believe that unique photos and stories that show who people are/were should be shared with the world.
I am a Teddy Bear Pom who was much loved. I came from the shelter in Colorado Springs about 14 years ago. My family lived in Green Mountain Falls for 21 years.
