Our family had quite a bit of information on the Brawley/Barnes family. When I worked in Washington DC twenty years ago, I was able to search the records in the National Archives and found even more information. It was quite exciting, like being a detective. My mother is now retired and has discovered how easy it is to get information on the internet, and is researching her family history. So I decided to do the same for my dad. It is interesting to find a history of gunsmithing in the family, as my father is quite an accomplished craftsman and enjoys guns. It was also interesting to note that my mother's Pomonky Indian ancestors, were probably responsible for killing one of my dad's ancestors. Seeing the westward migration of real people brings history alive. My dad's family is from Reynolds Co, MO.
