Allyn A. Johnson 39, of 917 5th Avenue, Lake Odessa, died at his residence Wednesday morning, Born April 11, 1946, in Lake Odessa, he was the son of Bernard and Mabel Moe Johnson. He graduated from Lakewood High School with the class of 1964.

He was married to Sandra Hilliker Oct. 2, 1964, in Lake Odessa and was employed by the Western Auto Store in Lake Odessa and for 10 years by the Lake Odessa Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Allyn Jr., in the U.S. Air Force; a daughter, Karen, at home; his mother, Mabel Kruger of Lake Odessa; his father, Bernard Johnson of Chiefland, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Rose Rapelge of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four brothers, Clarence of Longwood, Fla.; Ernest of Carrolton, Ga.; Gerald and Larry of Lake Odessa; a half-brother, George Johnson of Lake Odessa; and a half sister, Margaret Moe of Lake Odessa.

A daughter, Barbara, preceded him in death in 1982.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Lakewood United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ward Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. The family will be at Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials have been established for the Lake Odessa Fire Department and the Lake Odessa Ambulance Service, in care of Koops Funeral Chapel.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
