A photo of Adele Nitka who was born in Paris, France in 1933, and Paulette who was born also in Paris, France in 1940: two sisters with a teddy bear. Both of them were murdered in Auschwitz in 1942 at age 9 and 2 years.
Sisters Adele & Paulette Nitka, born in Paris between 1933 and 1940 who were murdered in Auschwitz in 1942 at age 9 and 2 years old. Thankful for photos like these which allow us to always remember. Thank you Alyssa McIntosh for the photo.
Well that is crazy just the fact that there are still spreading these horrible untruths this day in age of technology to try to deny the facts of the matter - the Holocaust!!!!
There's another side to the Holocaust that somehow justifies? Is that what you're saying? Since that is the topic at hand, I suppose that's your point?
To document history of that day General Eisenhower ordered photos taken to mark these horrific evils against humanity. As for historical writings more western books were written regarding the crusades than that of the east. We all know who lost that war and who the victors were.
I can tell you exactly who lost: Millions of innocents who were exterminated, and the many millions more that history will never know as a result. All of humanity lost.
Frances Noyan Christians are on the next list. I saw a video on Youtube-they are putting escaping Middle-East Christians all because they don't want to be part of Isis-they're being put in the Fema Camp in Hungary, England is accepting the Fema camps as well. Canada and United States is going to arrest those who don't recieve the mark of the beast and put them in the Fema camps (which are Christians).
No matter what "other side of the story" you are referring to Katherine, there's nothing that can justify killing an innocent 2 and 9 year old child, or any child for that matter. Millions lost their lives for nothing.
As for me, I'll go on believing that millions of innocent Jews, Christians, and other "undesirables" were exterminated during the Holocaust. Because they were. Anyone who says differently is deluded, wilfully or otherwise. Such delusions are a danger, and reprehensible.
Dawn Bailey Johnston I agree with you Dawn! Does she mean the "other side" of the story means millions of Jewish people deserved to die ?? If so, that is so wrong !
Some deniers were there. They saw what was happening. Some were supporters who deny that it was a bad thing or that it happened to the extent it did. I know a lady whose grandmother was one of those types.
Katherine is right. History is written by the victors. But that does not change what happened before those victors were able to write the history. Without judgement Katherine I would like to know what you mean.
Helps to remember the past and present situation to be able to Notice if Anyone has gone through it and make it more Easy to Understand why and How What Happened and Remember the People who have not made it to have respect for the people who passed away. And also for other reasons why don't want Something like that to happen again. May they be at Peace. There are the closing of what they Wore and have a chance to see the old style of clothes. Plus I was Wondering What You Think about the Good Book. The Past ??????????
Without you Could go through it over and over again without knowing. And Someone else wants to know that was a family member should have the right to NO .!!!????????
Deportation of the Acadians 1755. They are trying to say it never happened. The Cajuns in Louisiana are descendants of those people. Families were separated and put on different boats and never found each other again. Why did it happened? Greed was the answer.
@ Frances Noyan... The Holocaust in Germany happened so did a genocide in Armenia ( which Turkey denies) also in Ireland and to Native Americans - and on and on. I agree with you there; but the way you inserted a cut against our Administration and all who know that good things have happened in the past year is offensive and ignorant. Have a happy new year, don't presume about others and they won't presume about you
I spoke to a blockhead of a man who was around 60 who believes it never happened it was to get rid of lice I mentioned several evil camps he had never heard of . He was the only person of his age I have met with such a weird idea. I told him he needed to go to the Holocaust museum in DC then tell me the same.
I even told him our GI s were filed by the mass graves to see the atrocities first hand.
My dad liberated a nazi concentration camp, he was 20 years old, he didn't lie, he told me what he saw when I was just a little girl, my mum said I was too young to hear such things but I was always grateful he told me, my grandma said he was never the same when he came home from the war, I knew why.
Katherine Marie Motyka...why are you being so shady? If you have something to say then say it. AND nobody is going to do research and get back with you. You may think you are an expert...but you so obviously are not. Anti-Semitic maybe?
It boggles the mind when you realize that one bullet, in one man, could have saved millions of lives and untold misery and damage in both Germany and the rest of Europe.
I still cant wrap my mind around the fact of idiots who want to deny this happened??? Are they crazy? How can you deny millions of lives, millions of photos, stories, film clips...etc....wake up!
The Red Cross let themselves be used by the nazis not releasing records for 50 years and claiming only 271,000 Jews were exterminated not 6 million. They have been inaccurate for decades and not a reliable source of any info. As far as I'm concerned they are anti-Semitic and anyone who believes them is also. I'm a Syrian Christian and can tell you for a fact the Christians and Gods chosen the Jews are still being exterminated world wide but by a different evil
Not only that but the Nazis had Red Cross documents when they escaped to Latin America and the Sinai and helped the Arab and Right Wing Paramilitaries and the Dictatorships in South and Central America.
The human being forgets very soon about the atrocities of World War II. That's why we must keep reminding the students and teachers about the awful history of that war started by the massmurderer Adolf Hitler fueled by his antisemitism, racism and hatred towards Germany's neighbours! But also Stalin was responsible for millions of deaths in comunist Sovjet Union!
I agree! Trump is a demagogue and he fuels hatred among races and nationalities. And that's EXACTLY what massmurderer Adolf Hitler did in the 30's and 40's in Germany resulting in 60 million deaths!
That's a horrible thing to say about someone! Especially since people only started disliking him when he registered as Republican! If he had a D after his name and smeared Sarah Palin you hypocrites would be squarely in his corner!
Oh, FFS! This narcissistic dolt wouldn't have made it past the first 6 months trying to run as a Democrat. His fan base is far too ignorant, apparently, to see the difference, sadly. Ugh!
Bull malarkey Mary Lyons Corsiglia, you dont have a problem backing a woman that left 4 men to die on a rooftop,do you?? Or is it the complete socialist you favor?
No he's not,he's going to stop this c*** going on now! I included the deluded bernie. Nobody gets ANYTHING for free, you believing that makes you quite naive.
Karen Beighey It's so weird that on this post, remembering small children that would still be alive had someone offered them safe haven that anyone would champion Trump, who is openly in favor of leaving small children to die by the thousands. And boarding school does not a veteran or military personnel make.
Which small children would that be Serena, every picture I've seen of them is grown fighting aged MEN. And of all the people being brought into our country 2% are Christians, the rest are beating and attacking them at the refugee housing! Annie, what's wrong with being white?? I rather like it myself, but I don't think I'm superior to any one else, that's your warped thinking. And also Serena,I didnt say one time he was military, but it shows that once he starts something he sees it through to the end!! You two people are what's wrong with America, you twist words and make them mean something foul! You need help.
Ann Breault Darling You’ve obviously been brainwashed by MSNBC. The democrats are the new Nazis. The democrats are the ones who support anti-semetism! The democrats are the ones who support terrorist regimes who want to destroy Israel and commit genocide! Obama’s (the greatest demagogue of them all) goal was to see a mushroom cloud over Tel Aviv within the next 20 years. The democrats are the ones who try desperately to silence and even promote violence against anyone who dares to disagree with them. The democrats are the true fascists! The democrats are the most like Hitler of anyone!! Sorry if this is an inconvenient truth!!
The American Government tried to murder a whole race. The Native People still struggle with it. This part of history should not be forgotten too. Wounded Knee and a hundred other massacres...and now? Reservations. And what about Hiroshima and Nagasaki? I don't want to say, that the Holocaust wasn't the most cruel crime against Humanity. And I also will never ever understand it...but we where not the only ones.
It's a tough call, Dawn. We do have the distinction of being the only country to use an atomic weapon against human beings. Unfortunately, the Japanese Imperialist government felt honor was more important than their own citizens. The blame should go to them.
You should read up on what the English settlers did to the Aborigines here in Australia. And the government right up to the middle of the 20th Century. Google "stolen generation" The Government took them off the flora and fauna list and declared them to be humans in 1967.
Unfortunately, it's apparently very easy for people to think that way. My grandmother remembers that during the occupation by the Germans in the Netherlands during WWII, some of her family's friends would say things like "All those Germans need to die, till the very last child". Which really wasn't any better reasoning than the people who thought this about Jews.
Hate and suffering and ignorance and fear is what makes people want to murder a whole people. Though most of all, it's fear, according to my grandma. It reminds me of some Israelis who want all the Palestinians to die, even the children, "because the boys will just become terrorists and the girls will just give birth to more terrorists". This line of reasoning is wrong, but people are bombed and targeted by terrorists and become afraid and think stupid things. And then sometimes a politician steps in and says exactly what they thought, so they support him and then he uses that to gain power. Something like that.
How awful that they died, but i hope they were together when they died!!. Keep this photo it is priceless!!!this will always make us remember what happened!!!. xx
Historical events like this really make me angry. I wasn't raised like this! My parents raised me and my siblings to be curious and accepting of others who are completely different from us.
So much evil done. So many German and other countries turning a blind eye toward hitler. So sad. So much talent lost. Why are so many people cruel and evil
I am appalled that Adolf Hitler's diatribe "Mein Kampf"re- is being released again in today's Germany! It should have been buried with his dirty legacy!
That's just wrong!!! Mein Kampf will not be realeased in Book-Stores! It will be released for School Use and with comments to teach the children how crazy that guy was! And in todays Germany you can not buy it!!!
History learn's us what to remember, and what to never forget.Hopefully it also learn's those who want's war, that there is nothing to win in it
nothing at all...
Some people with power.use it to destroy, other's to make us learn from past misstake's...
Oh how evil the Holocaust was. These precious little girls did not deserve to die. Hilter was a vile man. I am thankful to see these photo's you send out. So we can put faces to the precious ones that died. Please God never let us forget.
Kiki Vaggalis but yet it is repeating today! The holocaust of yesterday repeats itself in Syria, Palestine and Burma! These sweet sisters life snuffed out at the hands of tyrants who continue to do the same today as we watch silently!
Very very sad! How can us human beings have come to hate each other at a point to have these horrible concentration camps in Germany, Poland and Russia not so very long ago and almost exterminate a whole race? Massmurderer Adolf Hitler was a demagogue and plunged Europe into World War II with his crazy rhetoric about racism, antisemitism and ultra nationalism and therefore attacking Germany's neighbours in a very vile way! De onmenselijke gevolgen en de verschrikkingen die de Nazi's gedurende de Tweede Wereldoorlog hadden aangericht in Europa en de rest van de wereld mogen nooit en te nimmer vergeten worden!
horrible just plain horrible I read the DIARY OF ANNE FRANK so many times I lost mu book I want another when I first read it I was 15 the age she was when they were in hiding so so sad
I know that it is been a while ago but I just want to say that i am so sorry to hear that. Two pretty girls. You do have pictures of them a wonderful thing to have as a result of having some of the past two Beautiful Girls. I See it as a picture of a Family tree. I Would like to Thank your friend or family member who has given you a picture of them
Darla Ward my father and his parents were the only survivors from a very large family. My grandfather was a photographer, so they are all faces with names to me.
Sweet innocent little people.
Makes me wonder who I walk past in the street and smile at.
Atrocious Senseless Wars.
Today as I type this...atrocities happening right now.
Around the world children are getting beaten..raped..by family members etc.
Mind blowing heartbreaking stuff...right now
Brings me to tears. Always the innocent suffer the most. Makes one ask, what kind of mindset could even conjure such horrible act? While I'm appalled, I know worse is coming.
The Jewish people were arrested and forced to go into a huge outside auditorium for days..no food or water. They separated the children and sent them to a different camp before they went to Auschwitz. July 16th was the day France did this. Evil...
It still boogles my mind that humans could do such horible things to others .To think these two beautiful little girls had to endure such horrors before their death. Heart breaking , never forget. The Museum in Washing DC is so heartbreaking but a a must see. I warn brace yourself it is a tough one to walk through.
Humans still do this today. Muslim killing christians and beheading children and parents...Muslims raping girls at age 9 yonger and older....and don't forget the brutal dismemberment in the United States Role in killing unborn babies. Just because it isn't out their loud for everyone to see...doesn't mean it isn't going on.
Yes I just talked to my husband the other day saying how things are happening today reminds me of the Nazi's . We really have not come very far in this world at all
I sent a copy of my father's book, "the Leica and Other Stories" to the Washington Holocaust museum some years ago, detailing how he escaped and other anecdotes.
We will never ever forget those dear innocents who died at the hands of a pure evil indoctrination . Always remembered and cherished and never in vain. I hope you are happy now with the people that love you. Xxx
How could anyone hurt these two beautiful girls...or any children...I just don't get it really...so sad...hurts my heart to see their little faces and know they went throught something horrible...
There are always people who will deny the evidence even as it is placed before them. The bodies found, the survivors all telling the same stories...
Yes, there is always the other side, but that doesn't mean the other side was right; it just means there's another side. Period.
History books and lessons leave out a lot. Along with Hitler's attempt at genocide, there have been other monsters who tried to do the same to other groups. And that includes the United States and their mission to wipe out Native Americans...tearing them from their homes, massacring women and children, paying bounties for scalps and other body parts, horrific tortures and purposely spreading diseases. Then there's the brutality of the slave trade, the KKK, the lynchings, the hatred and bigotry that still lingers in this country.
I'm an American, and I love my country, but I know, too, that if we close our eyes to the problems, they only get worse. Loyalty and patriotism is wonderful, but not when it's blind. You can't fix what you refuse to see that needs fixing.
Why are people so mean those picture's make me wonder wat would have became of them if that horrible holocaust never happend they would have had a good life but because some asehole thought his rase was better they had to die.people are suppost to learn frome the past but whene you look a round it's still happening all over the world makes me sad
Rhetorical question but what kind of people/culture murders children as a matter of policy. ISIS is nothing new, just evil in new shoes (sandals). And yet, our own culture has its own sins to come to terms with thinking back over slavery, Native Americans and Hawaiians intentionally starved and infected with measles. Sometimes the world just makes me weary.
I remember this interview with a USA retired Army Vet in a nursing home. He was given a letter from a gentleman stating he wishes to visit him. He does. These two very old men. The one that came to visit, was crying, saying g over and over again, thank you, thank you again for saving me. He said to the interviewer, back in WWII, this sweet man saved me and the remains living souls at Auschwitz. I was nothing but bone. The Army Vet said, this waif of a sweet man collapsed into my arms saying, are you American? He didn't say, your black, but, are you American. I said yes I am and here to bring you to safety. When I saw this interview, I bawled 😢😢 my eyes out. Here's the kicker, they were in the same Nursing Home.
Bawling my eyes out now. My stepmother was saved by an American during the war at about age 6, in Germany. In the bomb shelter, her thyroid developed goiter and she nearly died, but for that American soldier. It wasn't a pretty scar, but she never forgot that soldier.
Seeing things like this make me proud that my father played a part in defeating this evil. Maj. Ward Rose, 342nd Bomb Squadron, 97th Bomb Group, US Army Air Forces.
It's very sad that we never really learned anything from this human tragedy at the hands of evil mortals! It should never have happened, let alone, have happened for so long. Remember, learn and never allow it to happen again to any human in any country. Why do we still tolerate it?
The Holocaust was certainly done at the hands of evil men during the 20th century, however, let us also not forget the faces of the Palestinian children being killed by the Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank and Gaza today. Remember their faces too.
So beautiful what a terrible fate for such beautiful little girls. We must all fight evil doers wherever we are. Peace to those little girls in heaven and peace to their loved ones.💖💖💖
We must Never Forget all of the children, sisters & brothers, mamas, daddys, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, who were brutally murdered in the Holocaust. I cannot comprehend the horror. The movie, "Sophie's Choice" was so clear to the younger me, a 27 yr. old first time mother of a young baby girl. I never could have made that choice, and what happened gutted me. I knew some survivors' grown by then.children
To see those sweet faces is heart breaking . and who sent then to death? The French police who collaborate with the Nazi regime. Never again never forget and never forgive .
I can't imagine my almost two year old in the same situation, my precious daughter is no more precious than these two beautiful souls. May they have inherited the kingdom of heaven and show me around some day
I agree Hitler was an evil man but look how many followed him that I will never forgive And if any are still alive and free hiding they should still be sought and dealt with for their terrible crimes
Prachtige foto , triest dat het zo is afgelopen , waren nu mooie vrouwen geweest van mijn leeftijd , vreselijke krankzinnege , totaal nutteloze oorlog , mag nooit meer gebeuren !!!! .
To all who have had terrible losses, I send my love. Please whoever or whatever your God may be take care of you all. I to have lost family and friends to other things and other people. My family is so small but we love each the to bitsxxx
I don't know why anyone would post like on this page. I don't like it that two lovely little we're murdered. Or these other two young ladies also went the same way. I don't post like on this kind of post.
I was thinking the same thing Melanie--it Is being done today, but we must be politically correct & turn our head--who's gonna stop what's happening now?
Look at these lovely children. Their lives may have been spared had America opened her doors to them, but nobody did that in time to save their lives. When we say "never forget" we also mean, do not let us repeat the same mistakes. Syrian children who face certain death if nobody will offer them sanctuary deserve a chance too, and now is the time to "never forget."
Never forget, yet we have in our midst the same racist rhetoric. Some who may have read these posts do not wish to recognize that they may be also aiding this attitude.
Beautiful and sweet people died because of the evil works in the world. They just wanted to live their lives in peace. Just like most of us do now. Awful.
Helen ! I never see any thing posted on face book about the potato famine in Ireland when all those children died of starvation back in the 1850s! I can't imagine how the mothers and fathers felt watching them begging for some thing to eat and watching them suffer and die! I'm curious did you remember that in history books? Just asking! Mel stehley
My Mothers significant other, Pierre Berg, for over 50 years is a survivor of the Holocaust. Prisoner of Auschwitz, & Dora prisons & a terrible train ride. You can read all about it in his book, "Sheisshaus Luck" . Sheisshaus is German for S*** House & one of his friends escaped being shot by hiding in & diving into the mess in the Sheisshaus where Germans would not go. This book is available on Amazon. Pierre is still alive today, is 91 & works at the Ebel Theater in Beverly Hills as an usher. Get the book & drop by the Ebel to have him sign it for you. I have read it cover to cover & plan to read it again. Pictured here in front left side of picture.
has anyone come to realize this is the same way America is viewing Muslims? I understand the whole Isis thing but most Americans want to do pretty much this to them. And Donald Trump is feeding that fire. We are well on our way to repeating history sadly.
It just really stinks that nowadays schools ban students learning about the holocaust. I had to go into a lot of research and it took me a few years- watching the real documentaries-even of the survivors stories, reading the books and stuff like that. But we all got to dive deeper in what this piece of history truly means. You know you hear the term "many who don't know history are doomed to repeat it?" Many people when the soldiers of the US and England told them what they saw in those camps were devastating, some people didn't take it too serious. If some people don't believe it or just want to ignore it, geonicide has always been there and it is there right now. And sooner or later the round ups, deportaton, concentration camps and geonicide, mass murder can be knocking on anyone's front door.
God bless all those poor souls murdered because of a mad man. The sad thing is it’s still going on in other countries, in other ways.
Man will never know peace because there is to much hatred and to much greed in the world.
It’s been like it since the beginning of time.
The sad thing is the innocents have to suffer !
