This is my grandfathers brother, William Oscar Jones, US Diplomat appointed by Charles Evans Hughes May 5 1924 to represent the US in Konigsberg,Germany
William Atkinson Jones was a U.S. Congressman from Virginia from 1891 until his death in 1918. As the head of a committee that oversaw both the Philippines and Puerto Rico, he sponsored the Jones Act which gave ultimate freedom to the Philippines and the Jones-Shafroth Act which gave Puerto Ricans American citizenship.

I was just reading in my Gaines this weekend and say a Jones Family with one or more sons killed in a war,
and there is a Jones Community below "Hughesville" (below Ware Shoals, SC
the Jones/Hughes families are connected and came into the are late 1700's by wagon with couple other families such as Gaines and Daniel.
Where was William Riley Jones from? I have Jones in my family from North Carolina, Arkansas and Oklahoma. The names William and Riley are frequently used in this family.
Dorothy Smith Jones and the late William Jones made their home in Owen County, Indiana, while raising their children Patricia, Deborah, Charles, Karen and Randall.
