On his October 1940 World War II draft card, Welton described himself as being five feet eleven inches tall and weighing 165 pounds. He had hazel eyes, brown hair, and a "light" complexion. Welton Bills married Jeanne Helen Leavery (1920 - 2008) in about 1942 and they had three daughters.

Grandpa
I remember my grandfather so very well like it was yesterday. Cape Hatteras was the place to be as a young kid my favorite place to be especially with my mom and my big brother with me I was on top of the world. I can still smell my grandpa smoking his pipe and my grandma's burnt toast and the sea air blowing through the windows….taking a trip to the lighthouse was always cool because it was were it stood before they moved it.
