Rodney Gerald Koehler, or Gerry, as he was known to me, his sister, was a studious person. He helped take care of me as there were 11 years difference in our ages. I recall at his 16, taking me to church on a sled or bicycle or wagon on Sunday and I would go play with the house in the children's section. He was very intelligent, very old school. His won a scholarship to Yale Med School, but he went into the US Army when I was 6 (he was 17). The army called. He went to Ft Dix, NJ, Germany in the Army, and married Renate Geue Koehler there. He came home and sent for her after and she lived with us for a time in Pulteney New York. She passed away possibly in 2002. Our father died when I was 7, so he was as close to being a dad as I had. He was gone a lot. We had a younger brother, Allen (3 years older than me) and he helped him get thru school when my mom had difficulties balancing her new husband and an active teen ager. Both Gerry and Allen have passed now (Allen Jan 2014) and I miss them a lot. We used to talk on the phone every 7-10 days. My mother, Gladys Evelyn Tally Koehler Sherwood was proud of all of us. She passed away in 1968. Rodney left an adult son and daughter.
