Introduction

Battle of Lonepine, The Nek, Walkers Ridge. Two waves consisting of 150 men in each, 2 mins apart. The first wave was wiped out in 30 seconds, including the commander. 372 Anzacs lost their lives in that battle.

In 1884, in the year that Walter Ernest Barton was born, on August 5th, the cornerstone for the base of the Statue of Liberty - a gift from the people of France - was laid. 120,000 people - most donations were $1 - donated to the completion of the base.
