Violet Gemberling of Sunbury, Pennsylvania United States was born on April 26, 1930 to Clair Brosius and Theresa Shaffer Brosius. She had siblings Arthur A Brosius, Carson C Brosius, Bernard R Brosius, Emma Brosius Schroeffher, Katherine Brosius Auman, Lena Brosius Eberly, Avis Brosius, Stewart Brosius, and Earl Eugene Brosius. She married Robert E Gemberling on July 23, 1949, and had children Douglas E. Gemberling, Diana Gemberling Smoley, Linda Gemberling Zwatty, Julie A. (Gemberling) Powell, and Trude L. (Gemberling) Ferguson. Violet Gemberling died at age 92 years old on September 11, 2022 at Geisinger Medical Center 100 N Academy Ave, in Danville, Montour County.

In 1930, in the year that Violet J. Gemberling was born, on August 6th, N.Y. Supreme Court Judge Joseph Crater went through papers in his office, destroyed some of them, withdrew all his money from the bank - $5,150, sold his stock, met friends at a restaurant for dinner and disappeared after getting into a taxi (or walking down the street - his friends' testimony later changed). His disappearance was reported to the police on September 3rd - almost a month later. His wife didn't know what happened, his fellow Justices had no idea, and his mistresses (he had several) said that they didn't know. While his disappearance was front page news, his fate was never discovered and after 40 years the case was closed, still without knowing if Crater was dead or alive.

In 1945, when she was merely 15 years old, on May 8th, World War II in Europe ended when Germany surrendered. Hitler had committed suicide a week before.
