    Son of James Geary (1865-1908) and Euphemia Augusta Flora Meadows (1873-1948). Victor was the younger twin born on March 5 1987, his elder twin was Florence May Geary (1897-1936). Other siblings: * Hubert John (Jack) Geary (1898-1971) * Dora May Geary (1901-1967) * George Edward Geary (1903-1904) * Mutelle Annie Geary (1906-1972) Victor grew up in Callawada, Victoria. His mother remarried in 1911. He lived in Melbourne until ca. 1931 and relocated to Hurstville, NSW. He lived with his sister Mutelle and his mother Euphemia in Hurstville. He never married.

In 1904, he was just 7 years old when the "Teddy's Bear" was first produced. After seeing a political cartoon of President Teddy Roosevelt refusing to kill a clubbed and tied up bear, Jewish Russian immigrant Morris Michtom - who owned a candy shop and sold stuffed animals that he and his wife made at night at the store - made a "Teddy's Bear" and put it in his shop's window. The stuffed bears were an immediate success and Michtom and his wife went on to found the Ideal Novelty and Toy Co.
