    Verita McKeever was born on February 26, 1913 in Clairemont, Kent County, Texas to parents John Coy McKeever (1882 - 1964) and Alice Octavia Crump (1880 - 1960). She had seven sisters: Emma, F. Odell, Ruby, Bonnie Fay, Johnnye M., Winnie, and Alice and one brother, Clarence Buford McKeever. In her adult life, she moved to Los Angeles, California and married Colin H. Campbell, born 1900. They later moved to the small town of Fallbrook, California located in North County, San Diego, which was known as "The Friendly Village". Verita McKeever passed away on July 4, 2003 in Hobbs, New Mexico.

In 1913, in the year that Verita (McKeever) Campbell was born, the Philippine–American War ended for good in June. While the official end of the war was in 1902, fighting continued for several years.
