Velma's biological father, Daniel Joseph McEleney (b. 08/05/1903), was murdered in 1941 at age 38 in Boston, on or around the Charles River, while under the employment of James A Armstrong and Sons (Suffolk, MA). Although it was ruled accidental, the markings on his face, according to the medical examiner, Timothy Leary, showed otherwise. Not much is known about this, as there was only a small newspaper article written in the papers. I believe he passed away when my grandmother was 16 and her father was in his late 30s/early 40s. I've been told by my mother (Patricia Benson, daughter of Velma) that my grandmother had been molested by her father (my great-grandfather) and verbally abused by her mother (my great-grandmother). Velma's mother, also named Velma, is said to have died at a very young age (50s) from Colon Cancer, something that would later come back around to haunt the familial line.
