She had two sisters, Nancy and Cynthia, and a brother, Roger. Vail Keeney married John Herman Hanusa (born 1936) in 1963 and they had two daughters, Heidi and Jennifer.

    Hanusa, Vail Plano, Texas - Vail Hanusa, age 48, of Melissa, Texas, died on Sunday, February 26, 1984. She was born on December 19, 1935, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Roger and Catherine Keeney. She married John H. Hanusa on February 16, 1963., in Shorewood, Wisconsin. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Plano. Survivors include her husband John; two daughters, Heidi Hanusa, and Jennifer Hanusa at home; a brother, Roger Keeney of Dayton, Ohio; and two sisters, Nancy Forester of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Cynthia Hawkins of Washington, D.C. Services will be at 4 p.m. on Wednesday of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Plano and a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Arrangements are by Harrington-Bratcher-Dickey Funeral Home, Plano Texas. - Wisconsin State Journal (Madison, Wisconsin) Tuesday, February 28, 1984 on page 26.

Benefits provided for veterans to return to school (high school, vocational school, or college), obtain low interest home mortgages and low interest business loans, and (if needed) one year of unemployment insurance. Since most returning vets immediately found work, less than 20% of the unemployment benefits were distributed.
