    Tom's mother was Fannie "Fajga" R. Makower who was born November 15th, 1903 in Plock Mazowieckie, Poland and passed away on December 26th, 1958 in San Francisco. Her parents were Louis 'Lejwa Icek' Makower (1855-1950) and Beila Taube Klamka (1865-1933), and both of them were born in Poland. Fannie married Simon David Klugman who was born January 9th, 1896 in Australia, and died July 24th, 1979 in San Francisco.

    According to Thomas Leon Rogalski's World War II draft registration card which he filed on November 8th 1943, Tom was working for the U.S. Maritime Service in Avalon California, and listed Mrs. F. Klugman at 1235 Webster St. in San Francisco, California as the person who will always know his address aka 'emergency contact' as his granddaughter would say.

    When Tom was only 17 years old he went into the Merchant Marines to serve with the United States Navy during World War II. After his service, Tom worked for the American Can Company and the Machinery & Equipment Company in California.
  • Personal Life & Family

    Tom was married to his wife Theresa for 60 years, and loved to travel, camp, bowl, and was a faithful San Francisco 49er fan. He also regularly volunteered at the SB senior center and would setup the Thursday night Bingo games. At the time of his passing he was survived by his wife Theresa Rogalski and daughters; Pam Cassidy, Jackie Effisimo, and Gail Smith, and grandchildren; Michelle, Samantha, Peter, Allie, Alyssa, Jacob and Steven.

    Thomas L. Rogalski - Tom Rogalski of San Bruno passed away on October 13. He was 83 years old. He grew up in San Francisco. At the age on 17 he went into the Merchant Marines then proudly served with the US Navy during World War II. After his service, Tom worked for American Can Co. and Machinery & Equipment Co.. Tom loved to travel, camping, bowling and was a faithful 49er fan. Tom faithfully volunteered at the SB senior center, setting up the Thursday night Bingo. Tom loved his wife Theresa for 60 yrs and was dedicated to his family until his death. He is survived by is wife Theresa Rogalski and daughters; Pam Cassidy, Jackie Effisimo, and Gail Smith, grandchildren; Michelle, Samantha, Peter, Allie, Alyssa, Jacob and Steven. A memorial service will take place on November 14, 2009 at St. Pius Church in Redwood City at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to San Bruno Senior Center,

This is how I'll always remember Tom. Well, this face and of course this iconic photo Tom and Terry Rogalski - Thanksgiving Pilgrims of him and his wife Theresa.

Every time he'd walk in a room his 'light' and 'happy' personality would fill it. This photo appeared in his obituary which was published in the San Francisco Chronicle on November 8th 2009.

We just love this photo! Guessing it's the 1980s? It epitomizes the love that is always a part of Thanksgiving - the reason for giving thanks.
I really love this photo for so many reasons. It's a beautiful photo showcasing their love, and the memories of Tom & Terry during my high school days brings me a chuckle.
