  • Introduction

    Todd's name was James Gerard Haynes- Livingstone, born to me, JoAnne, the day before my 21st birthday, in the City of St. Louis. I was to relinquish him to a good Catholic Home, but it didn't work out that way. He was ADOPTED by the Gardiner family and the social worker lied to me so I couldn't find him. I saw and held him just once, in my right arm, a beautiful baby boy, and then he was taken away from me. That's the way it was in 1957. My arm still aches when I think about it. I searched for him for years, but he was deceased just months before I found him.

Todd Gardiner was my best friend growing up until we left high school and, more or less, went in different directions. He was a very smart, kind person, but had some rough edges because of the circumstances he grew up in. He was quick witted, worked hard and was a good athlete. We grew up across the street from each other and we inseparable from ages 9 to 18. Todd was married sometime in 1978 to a wonderful woman who was good for him. He developed an illness that grew worse over the next 9 year and died on October 24, 1987 in Albuquerque (where he had grown up). I have many fond memories of Todd, but mostly that he was a great and loyal friend.
