He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Tyler in this city on Thursday April 21, 1921, aged 78 years 3 months 28 days. The funeral services were held at the Tyler home Monday, Rev. M.H. Dutton of the Nazarene Church officiating and the interment was at the Yuma Cemetery.

Tipton & Susan married Feb. 6, 1862. To this union were born 12 children, four of whom preceded her. Surviving: James E. Vannest of Hugo OK., Ellis B Vannest of Yetta CO., Lewis H. Vannest of Santa Ana CA., Mrs. Anita May Tyler of Yuma CO., Mrs. Elizabeth Lotspetch of Long Pine NE., George E. Vannest of Model CO., and Earl C. Vannest of Weaver TX. 44 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren.
