This is a picture of my grandmother, Kate Harger --later Crews, and her two friends (and distant relatives) Thomas Ruffin Pratt Jr., and Elsie Payne--later Daniel. They hung around together mostly in Madison, NC. They were most likely in the creek near Elsie's home, which was the Dr. Artemus Payne home at Moore's Mill---now under Belew's Creek Lake. Ruffin Pratt later became a doctor, and moved to California, where he actually treated many actors and actresses in Hollywood for a time. He died and is buried in San Luis Obispo, Ca.
