He married Johanna O'Neil, and died at age 59 years old on May 13, 1914 at Melbourne Hospital in East Melbourne, City of Melbourne County, VIC Australia. Thomas O'Neil was buried at Melbourne General Cemetery College Cres, in Parkville.
