Thomas Adams Waldo was born on October 17, 1880 at Santa Fe in Santa Fe, New Mexico United States to Henry Ludlow Waldo and Lucia Maria (Mills) Waldo, and had siblings James Farley Waldo, Henry Ludlow Waldo Jr., Mary L. Waldo, and Helen Martin (Waldo) Rogers. He was in a relationship with Marion Wallace (Thayer) Waldo, and had children Lucy Gatewood (Waldo) Abbott, Henry Lynn Waldo, and Catherine Lawrence Waldo Haslam. Thomas Waldo died at age 48 years old on July 12, 1929.

In 1895, at the age of just 15 years old, Thomas was alive when on March 15th, in County Tipperary, Ireland, Michael Cleary killed his wife of 8 years, Bridget, and burned her body. His defense was that his "wife" was a changeling that was left in his real wife's place when she was abducted by fairies. He was nonetheless convicted and imprisoned for manslaughter. He spent 15 years in prison.
