She was may 4th grade teacher at PS 46 on Staten Island, NY — and she was wonderful — great instructor — great with kids — introduced us to “musical performance”. Through music, she introduced us to different cultures and languages — a woman ahead of her time, promoting diversity! I believe that impacted my life. She kept a keyboard under lock and key in the classroom as well as a ukulele! A very talented woman! A generous soul — at the end of the school year, she took the class to a grill on Hylan Blvd called Cosmo’s (I think) and payed for our lunch — we had a choice of a hamburger or hotdog! She was a snappy dresser — her shoes always matched her dresses! —- She loved her grandkids and always talked about them — Michael and Elizabeth, if I remember their names correctly. She also talked fondly about her daughter Virginia Gough. She was a religious woman and told us if we ever lost anything to pray to St. Anthony to help us find it. Often during the school day, when we were good, she would take out a bag of candy and give us treats. She truly was one of a kind.
