Theodore Bondy 1909 - 1983

Teddy Theodore Bondy of Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge County, Louisiana was born on May 31, 1909 at Raccourci Island in Raccourci Island, West Feliciana Parish County to Alpphonse Bondy and Cinderella (Bell) Bondy. He had a sister Lillian (Bondy) Manuel. Teddy was baptized circa July 1909. He married Orlean Mary (LaSalle) in New Orleans, Orleans Parish County, and they were married until Orlean's death in June 1950. They had a child Bernadette (Bondy). Teddy's partner was Audrey St. Julian and they later separated in June 1950. They had a child Theora Bondy St. Julian. Teddy died at age 73 years old in January 1983 in Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish County, and was buried in January 1983 at Southern Memorial Gardens in Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge County.

    Teddy died in January, 1983 in Baton Rouge, La. He was a professional painter and wall paper hanger. He was a U. S. Army veteran having served his country during WWII in the African and European campaign. His leadership ability resulted in him being promoted to Master Staff Sergeant. He was known for his big smile, strong handshake, and kindness. He was the oldest of eight children born to Alphonse and Cinderella Bell Bondy. He was a former member of St. Paul Catholic Church (Lafayette, La.) and longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church (Baton Rouge, La.) where he served as an usher for over 30 years. He was survived by his former wife, Ida Taylor Bondy (Milwaukee, Wis.) and his children: Daughters: Theora (Carle) Wooley, Chicago, Illinois, Bernadette (Elijah, Jr.) Wilkinson, Baton Rouge, La. and Son: Keith L. Bondy (Milwaukee, Wis.). Also his grandchildren: Susan and Claudia Wooley (Chicago, Illinois), Elijah, III and Orlean Wilkinson (Baton Rouge, La.). Also survived by his siblings: Camille (Harris) Dugas and Rita (Samuel) Faulk - all of Baton Rouge, La., Josephine (Joseph, Sr.) Segura and Gladys (Joseph) Stevens - all of Lafayette, La., and brother-on-law, Esrom (Lillian Bondy-deceased) Manuel - New Iberia, La. Also survived by special friend and Theora's mother, Audrey St. Julian (Lafayette, La.). Other survivors include nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends living in Baton Rouge and Lafayette, La. He is preceded in death by his parents: Alphonse and Cinderella Bell Bondy, sisters: Lillian B. Manuel and Louise B. LeDuff, nephew - Theodore A. Faulk, a baby brother, and deceased wife, Orlean LaSalle Bondy (Bernadette's mother).
