WEATHERBY.- On the 31st May, at Albury District Hospital, Thelma Florence, widow of the late Noel Francis Weatherby, loved mother of Leighton, dearly loved sister of Jean Shergold, aged 27 years. WEATHERBY. - On the 31st May, ( result of accident ), at Albury District Hospital, Thelma Florence, daughter of the late Samuel Shergold, step-daughter of Mr. Ernest Walker ( Essendon ), and half-sister of Jack, Ken, Bobbie and Dorothy Shergold.

Ray Harroun was the winner - he was an engineer and had retired from racing but he came back for this race. After the race, he retired for good. The purse was $27,550 - the largest offered up to that time - and Harroun received $10,000 for first place. His average time was 74.602 mph.
