She was married to Arthur Emil Lemke in 1885, and had children Linda (Lemke) Stevens, Albert William Lemke, Gustave Robert Lemke, George Adolph Lemke, James August Lemke, and Edward Mawley Lemke. Teresa Lemke died at age 39 years old on September 2, 1904 in Ascot Vale, City of Moonee Valley County, and was buried at Melbourne General Cemetery College Cres, in Parkville, City of Melbourne County.

In 1864, in the year that Teresa Jane (Mawley) Lemke was born, on June 15th, Arlington National Cemetery was created in Arlington Virginia. 200 acres from the grounds of Robert E. Lee's home were set aside to be a military cemetery. The home and grounds had been in Lee's wife's family - she was a great-granddaughter of Martha Washington.
