They had children Bruce Charles Seehusen, Brenda Kay Rouse, and Sheila Ray Seehusen. He would also marry Pamela Sue Seehusen on March 29, 1979 in Mechanicsville, Cedar County, and they were married until Steven's death on December 11, 1996 in Cedar Rapids, Linn County.

A tire rationing program had begun the month before. Detroit - the main hub of car manufacturing - was ordered to free up assembly lines for military production.
