He resided in Stamford, Fairfield, Connecticut for most of his life. At the time of his registration for the WWII draft on February 16, 1942, he was 21 years old. Stephen then enlisted in the military on April 15, 1942, in Hartford, Connecticut. He joined the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA, as a Private in the Army of the United States. Stephen served in the Army and was discharged on June 14, 1945.
