Stella Inez (Groom) Tyler was born on November 30, 1875 in Camden Co County, MO to Thomas P Groom and Mary Ellen (Moulder) Groom. She married Paul John Tyler on February 25, 1897 in Linn Creek, Camden Co County, MO, and they were married until Paul's death circa May 8, 1911. She had children Jack Tyler, June Pendeleton Tyler, Ester P (Tyler) Odom, Vesta M (Tyler) Montgomery, Con Butler Tyler, and Flynn Stillwell Tyler. Stella Tyler died at age 79 years old on July 28, 1955 in Tuscumbia, Miller Co County, MO, and was buried on July 30, 1955 at Salem Cemetery in Eldon.

Opposed by the public, the "public accommodations" sections of the Act were overturned by the Supreme Court eight years later.

In 1883, when she was just 8 years old, on June 16th, children at a children's variety show in Victoria Hall began rushing the stage area and lobby for promised prizes. In the stampede, 183 children of the 1100 present - most of them 3 to 4 years old - were crushed and asphyxiated.
