Stella Frances (Deans) Glen was born in 1892 to Florence Jane (Mitchell) Deans and James Deans, and had siblings Annie Alberta (Deans) Kemeys, Florence Emma (Deans) Belfrage Brophy, Alice May (Deans) Rich, Edith Thelma (Deans) Godier, Percival Thomas Deans, Horace Watkins Deans, and Ernest William Deans. She married William Glen, and had children Mavis Heather Glen and Jean Alberta (Glen) Kosky McNeilage. Stella Glen died at age 26 years old on April 29, 1919 at Fairfield Hospital in Clifton Hill, City of Yarra County, VIC Australia.

GLEN.- On the 29th April, at Fairfield Hospital, Stella Frances, dearly beloved wife of William Glen, of Maggio-street, Yarraville, and dearly loved mother of Mavis and Jean, and dearly loved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Deans, and sister of James, Ernest, Florrie ( Mrs. M. Brophy ), Percy ( returned ), Horace ( on active service ), Alice, Annie, Albert, Allan, and Eddie. Aged 27 years and 10 months. A faithful wife and loving mother. Deeply mourned.

In 1892, in the year that Stella Frances (Deans) Glen was born, on October 12th, the "Pledge of Allegiance" was first recited in unison by students in U.S. public schools. Composed the previous August by Francis Bellamy, it was to be recited in 15 seconds and originally read: "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." "Under God" was added in the 1950's.

In 1900, Stella was merely 8 years old when when Floradora opened on Broadway. A huge success in London - opening in 1899 and running for 455 performances - the musical was even more successful in New York - running for 552 performances. The "Floradora girls" were the hit of the show - a "sextette of tall, gorgeous damsels, clad in pink walking costumes, black picture hats and carrying frilly parasols who swished onto the stage and captivated New York for no other reason than they were utterly stunning" ("tall and gorgeous" translated to 5'4"). A sensation, each Floradora girl was said to have married a millionaire.
