Stanley Joseph Debick, 88, of Avonmore, passed away Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at his home.
He was born April 4, 1926, in Edri, a son of the late Charles Walter and Josephine K. Loboski Debick. B
Before his retirement, he was employed at the Hyde Park Foundry as a molder. He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Avonmore, VFW Post 7901, PNA No. 1234 and LOOM Lodge 37, all in Avonmore. Stanley also was a member of American Legion Post 57 in Saltsburg, the Disabled American Veterans in Vandergrift, Kiski Township Sportsmen's Club, The Nowrytown Sportsmen's Club and the Slickville Sportsmen's Club.
He was a very proud Army veteran having served during World War II in the 10th Armored Division, where he achieved the rank of technician 4th grade, and was at the Battle of the Bulge. He had the great distinction of "driving tank" for General Patton.
He was a very headstrong and positive man who lived life to its fullest. Stanley loved the outdoors, especially his trips to camp in Sinnemahoning. He loved to hunt, fish and ride his 1939 Harley Knucklehead.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Katherine Zerebnick Debick; a son, Richard T. Debick and his wife, Barb, of Lincoln, Mont.; four grandchildren, Renee Beck and her husband, Ed, of Avonmore, Stanley S. Debick and his wife, Jocelyn, of Bell Township, Charlie Debick and Jeffrey Debick, both of Avonmore; six great-grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law, Jackie Debick, of Avonmore.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy R. Debick; and two brothers, Chester and Henry Debick. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, in the KELLY L. CORRIDONI FUNERAL HOME LTD., 400 Indiana Ave., Avonmore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, in St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church with Father Salvatore Lamendola as celebrant.
