Shirley Ethel (Riley) Gray was born on September 3, 1908 in Durham, North Carolina United States to David L Riley and Alice W (Jacobs) Riley. She married Luke H Gray on December 21, 1951 in Durham, Durham County, and they were married until Luke's death on August 1, 1989. They had children Mary L Bridges and Alice (Gray) Whitaker. She also married James Ernest Wathan. Shirley Gray died at age 85 years old on November 11, 1993, and was buried at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Durham County.
