She married Isaac Goldenberg, and had a child Freda Gertrude Sarah Goldenberg. Sarah Freedman died at age 64 years old in 1940 at Beachmount in Geelong, and was buried in Geelong.

In 1876, in the year that Sarah Rachel Freedman was born, on July 4th, the United States celebrated its centennial. There were parades, music, speeches and fireworks - even in Union Square in New York City. Suffragettes also marched for equal rights and the vote for women.

In 1888, Sarah was just 12 years old when on January 12th, the 'Schoolhouse Blizzard' blanketed Dakota Territory. Montana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas were hit, leaving 235 dead. Many of those who perished were children on their way home from school. The day was relatively warm when it began and the blizzard hit unexpectedly, catching most by surprise.
