    Roy was born to Joseph Berardesco and Rose (Vetrano) Berardesco and had a sister Jenny Bruno and two brothers Angelo and Daniel. He married Beverly A Emmons in May 1961 in Asbury Park New Jersey and they had five children: Susan, Rosemarie, Lisa, Joseph and John. In 1992 Roy lived at 1417 S Federal Hwy in Lake Worth Florida and in 1994 599 Greene Ave in Belford New Jersey. A copy of his obituary is below.

    The following appeared in the Asbury Park Press in Asbury Park New Jersey on Thursday June 21st 2007: ROY JOSEPH BERARDESCO, 64, of Belford, Middletown, died Tuesday, June 12, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He served in the U.S. Army and worked in the food and beverage industry. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Berardesco; and a sister, Jenny Bruno. Surviving are two brothers, Angelo Berardesco of Long Branch, and Daniel Berardesco of Toms River; his five children, Susan Karropoulos of Asbury Park, Rosemarie Berardesco of Asbury Park, Lisa Schaad of Neptune, Joseph Worth of Cape Coral, Fla., and John Berardesco of Neptune. He has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The memorial service is to be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 805 Pine St., Asbury Park, on Monday. Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Neptune. John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown, is in charge of arrangements. Letters of condolence may be emailed to [contact link]

In 1943, in the year that Roy Joseph Berardesco was born, on June 20th through June 22nd, the Detroit Race Riot erupted at Belle Isle Park. The rioting spread throughout the city (made worse by false rumors of attacks on blacks and whites) and resulted in the deployment of 6,000 Federal troops. 34 people were killed, (25 of them black) - mostly by white police or National Guardsmen, 433 were wounded (75 percent of them black) and an estimated $2 million of property was destroyed. The same summer, there were riots in Beaumont, Texas and Harlem, New York.
