  • Introduction

    Roy E Mathews attended Wedgwood Elementary School, Nathan Eckstein Jr. High School, and Roosevelt High School in Seattle Washington. He also attended Seattle University for a time. Subsequently, he opened up three highly successful fast food restaurants in Bellevue, Washington. He was a world traveler who visited many other countries during his short life. His parents were Everett M. Mathews (d. 1961) and Emily Mathews [Mueller]. He had a host of close friends and associates who continue to mourn his early death from pancreatic cancer.

Since the 1880's, professional baseball had been segregated and blacks played in the "Negro leagues". He went on to play for 10 years.
