She married Joseph Hughes, and they were married until Joseph's death. Rosalie Hughes died at age 93 years old on January 8, 2003 in Catskill.

Rosalie's mother passed when Rosalie was 8 years old. Her father and she moved to NYC. At a very young age, she was placed in a convent and raised by nuns. When she reached adulthood, she became a burlesque dancer (always clothed, she emphasized). She established a relationship with U.S. serviceman Edward Felker who contracted polio. Rosalie and her husband Joseph Hughes cared for Eddie in their home on West 34th Street in NYC until he passed. She was passionate about taking in stray dogs and caring for them. Given how dangerous it was to live in Hell's Kitchen at the time, and being barely 5 feet tall, her dogs offered great protection. She frequently visited her Aunt Agnes Ambrose and cousins Petrona and Agnes Ambrose in Cementon and Catskill, NY. She enjoyed taking her younger cousins to points of interest in NYC, especially the amusement park at Coney Island and traveling to and from Catskill on the Hudson River day-liners. Relatives remember her as being classy, sassy, feisty, wise-cracking, funny, and a loving great Aunt. When she was no longer able to live alone and needed care, she moved to and lived the rest of her days in Home Sweet Home, an assisted living facility on the bank of the Hudson River in Catskill, NY. She is buried in Catskill's Rural Cemetery.
