He married Linda Kay Wyland on September 18, 1971 in New Kent, New Kent County, Virginia and they later divorced on June 22, 1979 in Henrico, Henrico County. He had a child Lora Michelle Koch. Robert Koch died at age 76 years old on May 23, 2018 in Henrico County, and was buried on July 22, 2024 Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia 10300 Pridesville Rd, in Amelia Court House, Amelia County.
