  • Introduction

    Risto Ribich was born on May 18th, 1879 in Yugoslavia to unknown parents. Although there is no existing record of Risto having married, he is listed as married in the 1940 Federal Census. He was living alone in Blanford, Indiana, at the time and working for the WPA. The WPA was the Works Progress Administration. It was created for the establishment of employment opportunities during the Great Depression. Risto's usual occupation was as a coal miner. Risto died on September 18th, 1933 in Vermillion County, Indiana, at the age of 87 and is buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Clinton, Vermillion County, Indiana. See Risto Ribich: Obituary.

Although there is no record of a marriage for Risto, he is listed as married in the 1940 Federal Census. He was living alone at the time. There is no record of children, as well. Risto was survived by one nephew. He was a member of SNF Lodge 20.

Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. - The Terre Haute Tribune (Terre Haute, Indiana) Wednesday, September 21, 1966 on page 6.
