    Ralph Benny Langwick was born on March 5, 1916 to parents Jean Marien and George Langwick. He had two siblings, John and Linda Langwick. Ralph was a 1934 high school graduate of New Paltz Central High School (New Paltz, New York, USA) where his mother was a teacher. While in high school he was the President Junior Class, involved in Student Council, dramatics (3) and was known for being a "quiet, serious lad, who always had a good word for everyone. He was voted the best dressed boy, and we all agree that he always looked his best. To us, his class mates, his future looks very bright." Ralph enlisted in the US military on January 31, 1941. He had registered for the draft in October 1940, as required by the Selective Service Act, and was called up for service shortly thereafter. He joined the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA as a Private, Selectee (Enlisted Men) and was part of the branch responsible for training and supplying warrant officers to the various branches of the US military during World War II. Ralph worked as a sales clerk and was employed by his father's company, the Clintondale Supply Co. The company was passed down to Ralph's father from Ralph's grandfather.
