Phillip Johanesen 1913 - 1983

Phillip Johanesen of Seattle, King County, Washington was born on December 24, 1913 in Seattle to Carl Paul Johanesen and Sophie Rebecca (Olsen) Johanesen. He had siblings Toralf Johanesen, Sigurd Johanesen, and Erling W Johanesen. He married Ina Johanesen, and they were married until Ina's death in September 1981. Phillip Johanesen died at age 69 years old in April 1983.

Previously the Governor of New Jersey and President of Princeton University, he was the first Southerner to serve as President since Zachary Taylor, over 60 years previous. A Democrat, he led the U.S. during World War I and championed the League of Nations.

In 1923, at the age of merely 10 years old, Phillip was alive when on August 2nd, Calvin Coolidge was sworn in as the 30th President of the United States due to the sudden death of Warren G. Harding. After the scandals of the Harding presidency, Coolidge restored public confidence and was very popular. He won the Presidential election in 1924 but declined to run again in 1928.
