Phemia (Playle) Cox was born in 1864 to John Playle and Euphemia Rose (Birrell) Playle, and had siblings George James Playle, Ellen Rose Playle, John Phillip Playle, Alice Agnes Playle, Esther Elizabeth (Playle) Moorman, Honor Isabel (Playle) Colman, and Margaret Rose Playle. Phemia Cox married John William Cox, and died at age 92 years old on May 21, 1957 in Greensborough, VIC Australia.

It mandated that "In God We Trust" was to be placed on all United States coins and created a 2 cent coin. Later - in 1956 - "In God We Trust" replaced "E Pluribus Unum" - which means out of many, one - as the national motto.

In 1893, Phemia was 29 years old when a songbook, called Song Stories for the Kindergarten, was published by sisters Patty and Mildred Hill. One of the songs included in the book was "Good Morning to All" - later the lyrics were changed and it became "Happy Birthday to You".
