Percy McAlister Filmer 1871 - 1947

Percy McAlister Filmer was born in 1871 to Stephen Filmer and Frances"Fanny" Filmer ( Hagger, and had siblings Arthur George Filmer, Ada Cecelia Broome ( Filmer, Edgar Stephen Filmer, Bessie Bell Morgan ( Filmer, and Albert Ernest Hagger Filmer. He married Mabel (Broome) Filmer, and had a child Ronald Stephen Filmer. Percy Filmer died at age 76 years old in 1947.

In 1871, in the year that Percy McAlister Filmer was born, on October 8th, 4 major fires started on the shores of Lake Michigan - in Chicago (Illinois), Peshtigo (Wisconsin), Holland (Michigan) and Manistee (Michigan). The Chicago fire is the most well known of them because it left almost 100,000 people homeless. But the Peshtigo Fire killed around 2,500 people. The casualty count made it the deadliest fire in US history.
