Patricia Elizabeth (Mangan) Hughes was born on October 12, 1919 to James Clarence Mangan and Mary Jane (Chalwell) Mangan, and had siblings Katherine Veronica (Mangan) Ludbrooke, Millicent Margaret (Mangan) Davis, James Mangan, and John Paul Mangan. She married Kevin John Hughes in 1948, and they were married until Patricia's death on January 18, 2012. Patricia Hughes had children Lachlan James Hughes and Celia Hyacinth Hughes.

Poland expected help from France and the United Kingdom, since they had a pact with both. But no help came. By October 6th, the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany held full control of the previously Polish lands. Eventually, the invasion of Poland lead to World War II.
